If it’s meant to be. It’s meant to happen. My sister Song signed up to attend a university 2.5 hours away from home with a plan to graduate. And if you know my sister, you’ll know that whatever she sets her mind to, she’ll find a way to get it. She also found someone in college who was always there for her. Someone who was responsible, respectful, and mostly caring–my brother-in-law, Chor. If he says he will be there at 2:30, you better bet that he’ll be there waiting at 2:15 already.
Song and Chor has been together since 2006 and are still as in love as the day they met. These two have built a great life together by working hard and supporting each other in their dreams. They now have two beautiful children who enjoys building pixelated worlds in Minecraft and going on weekend getaways to the Dells. Although they have been married for 11 years, Song has never had a wedding ring before. It wasn’t that they couldn’t afford it, but it was that the timing just wasn’t right.
So, Song finally got the wedding ring she wanted and booked a session with me.
We were supposed to go shoot at a location 45 minutes away from my house, but decided to change the location at the last minute because she wasn’t “camera” ready yet. So, we drove to the Town of Burke and held her session around sunset. The session was a breeze because they were all so comfortable with each other, even if they have never truly taken posed directions from someone before.
My favorite captures are the ones of the family laughing and smiling at one another. I had each family member tell “Knock Knock” jokes to each other so that the reaction from everyone was genuine. The one that got the most laughter was this particular joke:
A: Knock Knock.
B: Who’s there.
B: Obama who?
A: Oh by myself…
